How Clean is Your Floor? Carpet Cleaning 101
That special care depends upon the material of your floor. If you’re not careful and following the advice of the manufacturer, you could be damaging them with every swipe of a soaking wet mop. Here are some tips on getting your floors, all types of floors, clean in the simplest and safest way possible.
Carpet Cleaning 101
Carpet acts as a magnet. Dirt, dust, hair, crumbs, you name it – it sticks to carpet. Be sure to vacuum at least once a week using the beater bar and do it thoroughly. Push and pull the vacuum back and forth in a vertical pattern so you can see where you missed. Move slowly enough for the vacuum to do its job. Experts agree that you may not need to vacuum your whole house weekly as long as you keep up with cleaning the high-traffic areas often. If you have any carpet stains, tend to them as soon as possible. Never rub a stain into the carpet. Instead, blot it with a clean dry cloth. If the stain is still noticeable, use a carpet cleaner made for the material of your carpet. Take care of your vacuum cleaner by emptying it when full, changing out or cleaning the filter when needed. This simple maintenance will keep your vacuum working for many years and in turn, keeping your wall-to-wall carpet looking new for a long time.
